What an impressive evening! The two exceptional musicians Prof. Matthias Höfs, solo trumpeter from Hamburg, and the organist Christian Schmitt from Stuttgart thrilled the concert visitors of the Luther Church last Friday with a virtuoso lightness and joy of playing that was second to none.
Whether loud or soft tones, whether quiet or in a flash played tones Рthe team H̦fs/Schmitt showed a wide range of their skills
with works by Albinoni, Dupré, Baston, Bach and Tartini.
The great acoustics of the Ruhr Valley Cathedral as well as the very pleasant sound of the church organ provided a wonderful setting.
Two festive and expressive encores by Greene and Lindberg were honored with a standing ovation by the audience.
The last piece was played by Matthias Höfs in the sanctuary of the church, while Christian Schmitt accompanied on the organ loft.
"Thank you so much, dear Mr. Höfs, dear Mr. Schmitt, for this musical highlight in the Ruhr Valley Cathedral."
A personal gift
To commemorate this concert, Torsten Mühlhoff presented the two musicians with a painting (as well as a printing on acrylic glass)
by the artist Isaura Gomes. It shows the two musicians in front of the church room of the Ruhr Valley Cathedral.

A small picture gallery
We have prepared 15 pictures of the concert evening for you.
A small compilation
The concert lasted over 90 minutes.
With the kind permission of Matthias Höfs and Christian Schmitt, we provide you with a good 5-minute compilation
as a reminder as well as an encouragement for your future visit.
Because there are already first ideas for a next musical highlight in the Ruhr Valley Cathedral.
